SANJOY
New Delhi

“People stop me on the road and ask about the car. The looks and the features of this car make them think that it’s much more expensive than it actually is.”

Sanjoy is a 26-year-old graphic designer from Delhi. His Datsun Redigo Sport was just five-days old when we met him. Speaking about his new urban cross, he says, “the Datsun Redigo Sport is the best car for young people like me. I particularly like the ruby red and black combination of this car. The small touches, the dash of red against the black grille or the red accent on the wheels are fantastic.”

“Before buying the car, I spent a lot of time on the net researching the car, and promptly fell in love with the Datsun Redigo Sport the moment I saw it in the showroom. Put this next to any other car in the bracket and all eyes will automatically turn towards this car. Everything is factory fitted and I didn’t have to spend a rupee more to make it more attractive or useful. I thank Datsun for giving me such a good car at this price.”

Elaborating on his new love, he continues, “it’s certainly a fantastic car for young people like me. People stop me on the road and ask about the car. The looks and the features of this car make them think that it’s much more expensive than it actually is. Naturally, because it has things like LED daytime running lights! People find it unbelievable that I have got such a good car in this money.”

Summing up his views about the new car, “I love the Datsun Redigo Sport for its looks, performance and features. It gives me a big car feel and makes me feel special.”

ARMEEN
New Delhi

“I would recommend the Datsun Redigo if you are looking for a small hatchback with really great mileage.”

Armeen is a media professional living in a tony South Delhi neighbourhood. He already owns a car, but decided he needs a second car. He tells us why.

“Looking at the traffic in Delhi and parking issues, that are constant headaches, I wanted a small hatchback. Something that was convenient and practical. I checked out all small cars in the market but after visiting the Datsun showroom, I got stuck on the Redigo.”

What made Armeen pick the Datsun Redigo over the others? “The Redigo has got a very good ground clearance which I feel is really necessary to tackle the road conditions we find here. Moreover, though the Redigo is a hatchback, it is pretty spacious. Even the boot space is good.”

Armeen has had this car for nearly two weeks now. Clocking between 30-40 kilometres every day, he has built up a good idea about the car. He shares his impressions about the Redigo, “This car has everything I expected of it. It has good fuel economy. Even with the air conditioner on, I’m getting about 18-19kpl, which I think is pretty good. The pick-up is nice and it accelerates briskly. It runs smoothly and is extremely easy to drive in traffic. Though it’s a small car, the space is good. Even in the back there is enough room.”

The acid test. Would he recommend it to a friend? Armeen answers without a moment’s hesitation. “Definitely, I would recommend the Datsun Redigo if you are looking for a small hatchback with really great mileage. It’s a nice car. It’s nicely built. It’s perfect for city driving. So yes, I would recommend it.”

ARTI
Thane

“this is the most comfortable car that I’ve driven till date. Even women drivers will find it very comfortable and easy to drive.”

Arti Mishra is a homemaker from Thane who does social work in her spare time. A mother of two, she has a busy schedule. Her Datsun Redigo has been her constant and faithful companion for the past six months.

Speaking about the car she says, “Before buying this Redigo I was used to driving family sedans and big SUVs. Now after driving the Datsun Redigo for six months, I can confidently say this is the most comfortable car that I’ve driven till date. Even women drivers will find it very comfortable and easy to drive.”

Another attribute of the car, Arti points out, is the car’s compact dimensions. She elaborates, “You don’t have to think twice before taking the car out. You don’t have to think whether or not you’ll find parking. The small size means that it’ll fit just anywhere”.

Being a homemaker, Arti knows a thing or two about getting maximum value for her money. The Datsun Redigo doesn’t disappoint her in this either. Arti is most happy about is the car’s fuel consumption. She says, “I’m really satisfied with the car’s performance. Most importantly, it saves me petrol money since I get such a good average from the car”.

When questioned about what more Datsun could have given in the Redigo or what she would like to change about her car, Arti’s answer was emphatic. “It’s a complete car. I can think of absolutely nothing that I’d like to change, or anything more that I’d want from this car”.

RAMCHANDRA
Navi Mumbai

“Everyone in my family is tall. That’s why I love the space and headroom on the Redigo.”

Fifty-year-old Ramchandra Surve is a marketing professional. He lives with his wife and two schoolgoing children in Navi Mumbai. After 15-years, when he decided to replace his car, he decided to buy the Datsun Redigo. Here’s what he had to say.

“My requirement was that of a typical middle class family. It needed to have sufficient passenger space for my wife and two children. Moreover the car needed to have good boot space. Fuel efficiency was another important criterion. And finally it had to be low on maintenance. Everything a middle-class person would want. I checked out many cars in the market. The Datsun showroom was the last showroom I visited since I didn’t need to go anywhere else after that. Whatever I required and whatever my family required, the Redigo had it all covered.”

As we discovered it wasn’t just the Datsun Redigo, but a special Redigo that had caught his attention. As he revealed, “even in the Redigo family, it was this sport version that had me sold on the car. It looks like a sports car.” A practical car that looks good too, Surve sure made a good choice.

Just one-week old with only 150km on the odometer, Ramachandra Surve has promised to clock in more kilometers with his family. About the car he says, “It’s very easy to drive in traffic since you get a very good view of the road from the driver’s seat”. He has another reason to be delighted with the Datsun Redigo. He reveals, “Everyone in my family is tall. That’s why I love the space and headroom on the Redigo”.

AMITAV
Bengaluru

“The maintenance cost of the Redigo is the lowest I have known.”

Amitav is an IT professional based in Bengaluru. After driving a big MPV for the past eight years, he recently decided to add another car to his garage. Amit explains why we bought a second car. “I own a big car, but it’s a pain to drive around in traffic. Traffic in Bengaluru is just getting worse day by day. I needed a small car to get around in. Parking is another issue why I decided to go for a car with a small footprint.”

Amitav wanted a small car, but he didn’t want a small car. As he explained, “Yes I wanted a smaller car, but the smaller car should have sufficient space for my family and luggage too”. After checking out all the cars in the segment Amitav made a very interesting discovery. He says, “I discovered that other cars in the segment offering the same features as the Redigo cost nearly a lakh more!” Quite obviously, he made the decision to add the Datsun Redigo to his garage.

Amitav is particularly impressed with the service. Once when there was a small snag with the fuel gauge, the Datsun engineers came home and fixed it. Speaking about service he says, “As far as I know, most charge you labour even for the first free service. But after I got my car back from its first service, I paid nothing. Zero. I was pleasantly surprised. The maintenance cost of the Redigo is the lowest I have known.”

Amitav’s top three qualities of the car? “The noise level inside the car is minimal. The boot space is very good and fits in my week’s shopping. Plus, as I’ve calculated, it costs me just Rs 4.50 per kilometer.”

HARISH
Bengaluru

“I have had it for nearly six months now, and have had absolutely no problems. It’s economical to run and the drive quality too is very good.”

Harish is a self-employed person from Bengaluru. He runs a pharmacy business that is now about two-years old. When it was time to buy his first car, he chose to put his money down on a Datsun Redigo, the car that’s swept the awards in its category this year. Harish is a man of few words, but when it came to his new car Harish had plenty to say.

“I normally use a motorcycle to get around since its easy and practical for our crowded streets. But I felt the need for a car whenever I needed to travel with my family. So last year I finally decided to buy a car and got the Datsun Redigo last October. It fitted my budget and it fitted all my requirements. I have had it for nearly six months now, and have had absolutely no problems. It’s economical to run and the drive quality too is very good.”

Harish continues, “I see this car as a multi-purpose vehicle, using it both for my family commitments and official engagements. And it fits both roles perfectly. It looks very nice. It’s practical and easy to park. Plus it’s got good ground clearance.”

Harish has clocked up nearly 3,500km on the car’s odometer. Speaking about his experience with the car, Harish reveals, “I use the car to travel on the highway every week, when I drive down to my hometown. I find that car’s mannerisms on the highway are extremely balanced.”
And what about the car’s service? Harish gives the Datsun team a thumbs up on that too and declared, “I’m completely satisfied with Datsun’s service”.
