My Maruti Zen Estilo VXi 2008 has run for less than 10,000km and is in immaculate condition. I haven’t faced any mileage problems despite being in Mumbai. I recently read that Maruti Udyog has almost stopped producing the Zen Estilo/A-Star due to poor sales. I can use my car for five more years, but parts may not be available later. Is it advisable to exchange it for a Santro or a Swift? My car does not have a Maharashtra registration, which doesn’t make it very attractive for exchange. What is the approximate market price if it is to be sold rightaway?
AAA Owning a Maruti affords you the peace of mind that spares and service will continue to be easily available even long after the model ceases production — you merely need to see the number of first-gen Zens, 800s and Esteems still on the road to realise that. Also, the availability will not only be limited to showrooms and authorised service centres, but in the open market as well, since countless component manufacturers sell spares for Maruti models.
If your sole concern for contemplating exchange is this one, rest assured that you can continue to use your Estilo for several years to come. For your reference, an indicative market price of a 2008 Estilo VXi in Mumbai for a vehicle registered outside Maharashtra should be around Rs 1.8-2.0 lakh, depending on the condition.
