I have shortlisted two second-hand cars that I am interested in buying – Honda City 2019 model (fourth-gen) and Kia Sonet HTX diesel. The City has a mileage of 42,000km and costs Rs 10.10 lakh, while the Sonet has run 53,000km and costs Rs 10.88 lakh. Which one should I go in for?

Autocar India says: Both cars are quite different and the deciding factor between the two is the space you need. The fourth-gen City has a far more spacious back seat and a larger boot. So, if you are looking for a family car, it’s the City for you. The Sonet, in comparison, has a smaller boot and the rear seat is cramped. However, the Sonet diesel is one of the best compact SUVs on the market and is much nicer to drive than the City. It is smooth, responsive and has a nice slug of mid-range torque, which, allied to its smooth shifting torque converter automatic, makes driving effortless. We also like the cabin of the Sonet, which feels quite upmarket. So, if you are driving solo most of the time and don’t need the space, go for the Sonet diesel.
