Upsizing tyres on a 2013 Honda Amaze diesel

Which sizes do you recommend for the Amaze diesel? Also, will the upsize have any impact on the car’s ABS/EBD calibration and suspension?

The tyres of my 2013 Honda Amaze Diesel S i-DTEC are due for replacement. Current tyres’ sizes are 175/65 R14. These are quite skinny and lack road grip at high speeds and highway rides. I’m planning to upgrade the tyres. Which sizes do you recommend for the Amaze diesel? Also, will the upsize have any impact on the car’s ABS/EBD calibration and suspension?

AAA For sure you can go ahead and upsize your tyres – without any issues with electronics and suspension – as long as it is within limits. We’d recommend going one size up, which basically means a 185/65 R14. More than the size, it’s the compound and quality that matters when it comes to grip and overall tyre performance.

We’d recommend a Michelin XM2 in the above mentioned size (185/65 R14), which is an excellent combination of all-round performance and durability. You will also gain some ride height which will help negotiate speed bumps better and improve overall ride quality as well. Just ensure that there is enough clearance in the wheel well and the fronts don’t touch the inside when you turn the steering lock-to-lock.

The Amaze is equipped with fairly basic electronics but even cars with more electronic wizardry like tyre-monitoring systems, four-wheel drives with differentials are not affected by minor upsizes as long as the overall outer diameter of the tyre stays within a four percent range. In your case, the deviation is around 2.23 percent, so it should be perfectly safe to upgrade.
