I want to buy a bike mainly for city use, within a budget of Rs 1.7 lakh. My requirements are good ride quality, safety and easy maintenance. I have shortlisted the Honda X-Blade, Honda CB 160R Hornet, TVS Apache 160 4V Yamaha FZ or FZS v3 and the Royal Enfield range.
Shell Shajan, Ernakulam

AAA From the list you have mentioned, you could look at the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V. It’s a quick and comfortable commuter, but with a slightly sporty riding position. If you want a more upright riding position, the Hornet is worth looking at.

However, the budget you have earmarked is quite generous, and you could look at nicer motorcycles from a segment above. Given your requirement of comfort, safety and reliability, the Yamaha FZ25 is a
smart choice. It’s a quick, but comfortable city bike and has recently been updated with dual-channel ABS. Yamahas are also renowned for their reliability.

Finally, if you want something excitingly quick, the new Bajaj Dominar 400 is worth a look as
Bajaj has just given it a big update that brings more power and improved suspension comfort.
