The December 2020 issue of Autocar India is out now, and headlining our latest issue is our comprehensive list of over 75 new cars and SUVs that are set to be launched in India in 2021. To go with it, we have drives of the Nissan Magnite, Hyundai i20 Turbo, Skoda Octavia RS 245, Mercedes-AMG GT R, Ferrari 812 GTS and the new Mercedes-Benz S-class. But that’s not all – we’ve also packed in a gaggle of new BMWs, including drives of the X3 M, X6, M5 Competition and a special drive from Delhi to Mumbai in the M8 Coupe. Also part of this issue is a detailed road test of the Kia Sonet and fresh details on the 2021 Mahindra XUV500. To go with these, we’ve packed in first rides of the BS6 Suzuki Gixxer SF 250, updated BMW G 310 R, a three-way showdown between the Honda H’ness CB 350, Royal Enfield Meteor 350 and Benelli Imperiale 400 + more juicy news from the industry and features you’ll enjoy reading. Here are the highlights:

New cars and SUVs coming in 2021

Don’t sign that cheque just yet – a barrage of new vehicles are set to be launched in India next year, including a wide variety of SUVs, sedans, MPVs, performance cars, hatchbacks and even electric vehicles!

    2021 Mahindra XUV500

We bring you a glimpse of the 2021 Mahindra XUV500 and tell you all about the second-gen SUV, which will be bigger, plusher and loaded with tech.

    Nissan Magnite

With its shock pricing, the Nissan Magnite certainly has everyone’s attention – but does it have what it takes to disrupt the compact SUV segment?

    Hyundai i20 1.0 Turbo

Equipped with a 1.0-litre, 120hp turbo-petrol engine, the ‘Turbo’ version of the new-generation Hyundai i20 promises to be the sporty premium hatch we’ve longed for.

    Skoda Octavia RS 245

At Rs 35.99 lakh (ex-showroom), the Skoda Octavia RS 245 sure is expensive, but it more than justifies its premium price tag.

    Land Rover Defender

Having tackled the arduous expanse of Namibia a few months ago, the new Land Rover Defender faces its next big challenge – the urban sprawl of Mumbai.

    Kia Sonet

We put Kia’s latest offering for India, the Sonet compact SUV, through its paces in our comprehensive road test.

    New Mercedes-Benz S-class

The Mercedes-Benz S-class faces a tougher task than ever in its seventh generation. Will its greater emphasis on technology and digitisation pay dividends?

    New BMW X6

The third-generation BMW X6 blends luxury, size, practicality and performance in a package that’s hard to ignore.

    BMW M5 Competition

BMW’s M5 – the original performance sedan – has returned in ‘Competition’ form, and is packing 625hp and more aggressive dynamics this time around.

    BMW X3 M

A drive in the BMW X3 M proves it is blisteringly quick, but also compact enough to blend in with Indian roads and traffic.

Delhi to Mumbai in the BMW M8 Coupe

Why fly when you can fly instead? Confused? We make a case for the seriously fast BMW M8 Coupe on an impulsive drive from Delhi to Mumbai.

    India’s fastest road in a Mercedes-AMG GT R

We set off in search of the fastest road in India, armed with the mighty Mercedes-AMG GT R.

Driving across Rajasthan in an Audi Q8

On the final leg of our royal road trip, we drive the Audi Q8 across Rajasthan to experience just what makes the state so extraordinary.

    Carlos Ghosn: The great escape

It sounds like a far-fetched plot from a Hollywood movie, but, as former Nissan boss Carlos Ghosn puts it, his escape from house arrest in Japan was no work of fiction.

Royal Enfield Meteor 350 vs Honda H’ness CB 350 vs Benelli Imperiale 400

The retro motorcycle segment is heating up, and we’ve pit two new arrivals – the Royal Enfield Meteor 350 and Honda H’ness CB 350 – against the Benelli Imperiale 400 to pick a winner.

    BMW G 310 R

The G 310 R – BMW Motorrad’s entry-level motorcycle – is back in BS6 form, and this time, it’s better-equipped to take on the competition.
