The May 2014 issue of Autocar India is bursting at its very seams with exciting new stories. Front and centre is Maruti's new S-Cross, which we've driven exclusively this month. It's an exciting pseudo-SUV with lots of cabin space, but will Indian customers warm up to it? We've also driven a bunch of luxury SUVs, some powerful sportscars, and even a hypercar, and there's also a very exciting comparison test. A lot to look forward to in our May 2014 issue:

Suzuki SX4 S-Cross – Maruti has never quite managed to do premium successfully in India; just look at the Vitara and the Kizashi. But it plans to change that with the SX4 S-Cross, a crossover that will rival the likes of the Renault Duster. But will its more car-like appearance appeal to the Indian customer, and moreover, will Indian buyers be willing to shell out premium money for a Maruti? We’ve got an exclusive drive of the S-Cross to find out just that.

Mercedes-Benz GL 63 AMG – The formula is simple, really. Take one of the largest, most luxurious SUVs in the market, swap its sensible V6 diesel for a fire-breathing twin-turbo V8 petrol, and watch physics bend to your will. That’s what the 557bhp AMG GL-class is all about.

New BMW X5 – Not quite as mental but just as luxurious is BMW’s new-generation X5 SUV. It’s a steady evolution in the right direction of the car it replaces – more comfortable, more spacious and even more luxurious. And, like all X5s before it, it’s great to drive as well.

Lamborghini Aventador Roadster – The flagship of the Raging Bull range is quite easily the most extreme car – in every sense of the word – that you can buy in India. We knocked the roof panels off and took it for a blast in and around the city of Bangalore to see just what it’s like to live with.

Jaguar F-type Coupé – Jaguar successfully whet our appetites with the F-type convertible a few years ago, but amazingly, the coupé is even more of a sensory overload. It’s luxurious, it’s comfortable, it’s great to drive and it sounds like heaven. But above all else, it looks gorgeous.

Hyundai Xcent – Hyundai’s decided to take on Maruti and Honda in the compact sedan segment with its handsome and very well equipped Xcent. We’ve given the petrol and diesel versions the full road test treatment, and also done a head-to-head comparison with the Dzire and the Amaze.

Harley-Davidson Street 750 – The Street 750 is a double-milestone motorcycle – not only is it the most affordable Harley yet, it’s also the first one to be manufactured in India. After a long wait, we were finally able to swing a leg around this new cruiser and give you our first impressions of it.

Motorsport – The 2014 F1 season is well underway, and we’ve got detailed reports of the first three races on the calendar – Australia, Malaysia and Bahrain. We’ve also got a feature on the Super Formula series – the fastest four-wheeled racing after F1. And finally, 20 years after his tragic fatal accident, we take a look at the 20 greatest moments in Ayrton Senna’s racing career.
