Guyz the Blue & Me is a well developed system, designed & developed by Microsoft & Fiat. It ofcourse plays all your songs through voice identification enabled software technology which is faultless. You just name the song in your cd or mobile (connected via bluetooth) or usb or ipod or laptopand it plays instantly. You can also command it to dial numbers by just saying "ring-name". When you receive a message you just command it to read it & it does that. Also the other people in the car cannot command it to do any functions via voice.

The most advanced features of the system come where it stores all your driving data- as to how your driving in terms of acceleration, clutch & gear usage, city driving conditions. highway driving conditions, pollution, fuel consumption/mileage etc. This data can be interpreted in the company computers which have special softwares which inturn advice you on better driving skills, mileage improvement & most importantly how to drive your car in a more environment friendly way.

Finally got a chance to TD the Linea MJD.

Exteriors no need to mention- but cant help it - STUNNING. Interiors look good. But there are some areas where plastic quality could have been better. No bottle holder? When i sat in the rear i was almost the roof. Engine was quite noisy IMO. As already mentioned by members the you feel the power only when engaged to 3rd gear.

What i liked:
  • Brilliant suspension
  • Awesome handling
  • Steering - Feels great to hold on. It kinda spoilt me when i sat in my Swift after the TD.
  • Of course the looks & build quality & features.
What could have been better :-
  • Gearbox- I somehow didnt like when engaged from 2nd to 3rd. Kinda rubbery feel.
  • Power delivery could have been better. I would surely say i found it quite underpowered
  • Frequent gear change required.
  • Engine was quite noisy.
I think i ll do another TD -back to back between of Linea & City to make it easier to decide.

karan-when I checked thelinea here in Bangalore it had 2 bottle holders. 1 in front & 1 at the back seat(totally 4 bottles or cups or cans holding capacity- 2 in each).
As for frequent gear changes, maybe you just needed to get used to it, cause the Linea 1.3 glides at 20km/h even at 5th gear.
If you compare Honda city & Line 1.3 diesel than definitely the Linea will have more noise than the petrol City.

The Diesel car's IMO are very refined to be driven in. I don't like the noise and judder coming thru' the pedal's and gearshift, after living with petrol cars for almost 18 year's. The last diesel we owned was a Sipani D-1 after that I did not have the gut's to go in for a diesel and plus my 'running' doesn't dictate one. I have been driven in a Lancer, Ford Escort and Innova Diesel's all are refined once your just seated and someone else is at the control's.

Ok guys, here are a few pics which I cud upload.
Also after the first few days, my feedback on the Linea is:
  • Personally I did not find it underpowered for regular use.
  • The Blue and me is an amazing feature, but it u need to pronounce names in an accent, the user will need to get the hang of it, and I'm beginning to figure it out.
  • The clutch pedal is slightly higher than my Civic, and also a bit uncomfortable. I am taking the car to the dealer to see if its only my vehicle or standard with all Linea's.
  • I would have appreciated if the mirrors would have folded electrically.(positioning is electrical, but u have 2 close/open manually)
  • The rear AC vent is a useful thing as it cools the cabin well.
  •  The central console including the AC and Music system look stunning, and up-market(Music system is made by Blaupunkt).
  • Suspension is very soft and seems to be well calibrated for Indian roads
Will update if there are any other things noteworthy that come up.
Brgds,
Gaurav.

Cruise- Iam very impressed ! Congratulations on owning something that is worth every rupee.
For getting adjusted to the higher pedal (usually its in that position in order NOT to step on it while accelerating) you might need to adjust your seat height & position.

I don't think that there'll be a problem with sales and service of Fiat Linea. Earlier the problem was there but after Tata and Fiat have entered a partnership, the sales and service of Fiat cars have been improved.

There was problem in earliear years cause thats when Fiat had problems with some dealers including Sundaram in Bangalore. But they never wanted to withdraw from India, especially being present here even before maruthi & the others.

As we all know that palios were over 85% imported, hence a little problem initially(before TATA joint venture). But now they have the state of the art complete manufacturing unit near Pune. Also they are manufacturing engines & other products which are being exported to other countries. The Linea is only 55% Indianized as of now & they will be close to 90% Indianized by the end of Dec 2009 and the same goes to the Grande Punto as well.

Well Fiat can improve its sales and service only if they try to open showrooms alone, coz i dont think that Tata is helping them...Tata's service isnt that good and indirectly they are into competing Fiat cars only like Palio multijet and Vista and Linea and probably Upcoming indigo...

Fiat should be individual...
