The Tata-Fiat dealer which was doing good here, because of some his own financial constraints closed the dealerships and till yesterday, the site was showing dealer in my city but today its not showing the name of my city in list..
I just hope that our city gets new dealer soon.. |

Well true mehul but one thing is in common..if all come including features, quality, brand, etc comes with powerful engine than people of different forum only claims that this one is not fuel-efficient or its overpriced...so you have to choose between 2, either you want good engine with less space and below average quality or the latter one, and if both be ready with more cash.. They have to be competitive so these type of engines they have to give and as some companies cant compromise of quality, space, etc so they give less powerful engine and all people doesnt want a performer, for many these cars do well so its not the thing to be blamed...and nowadays FE is more important

Only thing concerns me about Linea other than the fiat badge is power to weight ratio which will be around 73bhp per tonne , where as the NHC has a power to weight ratio of 105bhp per tonne.

well said blue sapphire....a car will surely lack in some thing and besides the engines might have tuned for frugality.i think the less power can be solved...in a few months time pete's box for linea will be out so the power output wid pete's will become quiet good !!!!

Actually bran value is most important in india, not for their quality or so but indians are somehow fans of Maruti, Skoda and Honda in particular.. No offence please, but Maruti will do well with some inferior qualities and less comfort, similarly Honda did well and were successful like no other in selling Honda city dolphin type which wasnt that good looking and was with mere 77bhp...So this one with 90bhp isnt that bad... Well i think that this car will do well , although A.S.S will become a hurdle for Fiat, but still initially it will get good response and if Fiat gives good service afterwards and India can be good market for Fiat...i am currently having 87-90Bhp 1.3 Honda City Dx(old one) and frankly speaking driving that i dont feel like its not having good power..Although 116-125 bhp are really good to drive but still it isnt a big deal for me, the car should have good dynamics and ergonomics which make a car fun to drive atleast for me...1st i always thought that our next car will be a 110+bhp car, but seeing Linea i think we may go in for 90bhp again if its good to drive.. |

Besides companies like Fiat and Skoda have tried to give some powerful engines too in their previous models but failed, so i think they have decided that Indians need features, looks nowadays but there should be FE and VFM price tag even if engine produces some less Bhp's..
But then i think that Fiat could have provided 1.6 of Palio's to have good power but again it would have shoot up the price or may be they feel that 1.6 engine of palio is much older than their latest F.I.R.E engine..

blue sapphire ur honda isnt under-powered cause its weight is just 950-1000 kgs but the linea weighs a full 1200 kgs and 200 kgs makes a lot of difference but linea is a very vfm deal....suzuki,honda can make do with less power cause their cars are light but the european cars are heavily built and hence need more power....but i think to keep the pricing good fiat has gone light with the engine which doesnt matters to the majority !!!!

Ya i know that Japs weighs less than european..I hope its good to drive coz it has good dynamics and ergonomics...
Still i cant comment much, will have to take a TD and then decide whether it is extremely underpowered or it has decent performance.. Edited by bluesapphire - 15 Jan 2009 at 2:18pm |

Ya, generally european needs more power than other cars..
Somedays back i drove 1.9tdi Jetta and it wasnt good to drive coz it was underpowered, when i was to take you turn and car was at low speed i tried to take U-turn in 2nd gear but failed many times...While even my 67bhp spark can take that U-turn in 2nd gear with AC on...Well i think that this was because it was Diesel while Petrols arent like this even if low on power..

The last time round Fiat was a big failure because they had the wrong partners - Premier Auto (Doshi Family). These guys were only interested in filling their pockets. Customer service or satisfaction were terms unheard of in their organization. Now with a fully owned subsidy Fiat is looking to make a fresh start. The aggressive pricing of the Linea shows they are keen to make ammends. I think this will be the most succesful launch of 2009. However, only time will tell whether you are right or me. |
