Part of the salt-to-software conglomerate, Tata Motors was founded in India in 1945 and is today one of the two domestic car makers in the country.
The home-grown Tata Motors vehicles line-up goes all the way from the small and ultra-affordable
Tata Nano which made waves across the world when
it was launched as the Rs 1 lakh car, to large multi-axle trucks. The passenger car line-up also includes hatches, sedans, MPVs and SUVs.
The company has multiple manufacturing and assembly plants across India and a few in other countries too.
Tata Motors also exports its passenger cars, trucks and buses to various markets around the world, with the buses and trucks being particularly popular.
Tata Motors has various stakes and ownerships of multiple automotive businesses around the world, the most notable of which are
the Daewoo Commercial Vehicle Company which Tata Motors purchased in 2004 and Jaguar Land Rover which the automobile maker purchased in 2008
from the previous owners, the Ford Motor Company.
