Production-spec Tata Harrier leaked ahead of official unveil

One of the most anticipated upcoming SUVs in India, the Tata Harrier, has been seen in production guise for the first time in a leaked image that has surfaced online.  The image shows the new SUV from rear three quarters.

The Harrier is the first Tata model to sport the brand’s Impact Design 2.0 language. A first look at the Harrier reveals how close the production-spec model’s styling is, when compared to the original concept that was shown at the Auto Expo 2018 earlier this year.  The model seen in the picture is equipped with similar wheels to the ones seen on the test-mule spied by us in Manali a few days ago. The spied Harrier had 17-inch alloy wheels shod in 235/65 R17 tyres.

The production-spec Harrier retains the concepts exaggerated front and rear wheel arches, which are now rounder and less angular. The SUV gets a strong crease that runs along the length of its side that merges with the front wheel arch and joins the wraparound tail-lamp at the back. The production-spec Harrier gets a similar glasshouse like the concept, with a triangular quarter glass aft of the C-pillar along with black trim, both of which give the model a floating roof-like look.

Moving to the rear, the Harrier gets a chunky rear bumper with a large brushed silver skid plate. The model gets triangular rear fog lamps and reflectors that replace the faux vents seen on the concept. The rear glass design looks very similar to the concept and gets an integrated spoiler too. A large Tata logo sits just under the glass, below which there is space for the license plate. The tailgate gets a wide opening which would help ease loading and unloading. The Harrier’s tail-lamps are horizontally placed, sleek wraparound units with LED elements. Although not visible in the picture, the Harrier could get dual exhaust tips at the back.

On the inside, the model will get dual-tone interiors, front and rear armrests, a decent-sized touchscreen infotainment system and a whole host of features seen on present-day SUVs. Tata will sell the Harrier with a 2.0-litre motor mated to either a 6-speed manual or a Hyundai-sourced 6-speed automatic.
