Jeep Compass Black Pack priced from Rs 20.59 lakh

We had previously reported that Jeep was working on introducing a Black Pack edition for its popular Compass SUV during the festive season. We can now confirm that the Compass Black Pack is available with petrol and diesel engines, with prices starting at Rs 20.59 lakh for the petrol-automatic, going up to Rs 22.03 lakh for the diesel-manual with 4x4.

As the name implies, the exteriors of the special-edition Compass feature a black roof, black mirrors, and black 17-inch alloy wheels. There are three paint shades on offer with this edition – Vocal White, Minimal Grey and Magnesio Grey. The insides of the special edition model also get an all-black finish.

Based on the current top-spec Limited (O) trim, the Black Pack gets the same level of equipment, which includes a 7.0-inch infotainment system (U-Connect) with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, dual-zone automatic climate control, front and rear armrests, reverse parking sensors, push-button start with keyless entry and go, reverse parking camera, LED tail-lamps and high-intensity discharge headlamps. In terms of safety, the Black Pack shares its kit with the Limited (O) and gets traction control, ESC, ABS with EBD, hill-start assist, cornering front fog lamps and rear fog lamps as standard.

Engine and transmission options are the same as the current range-topping variant – the 173hp, 2.0-litre diesel engine is mated to a six-speed manual (4x2 and 4x4 options are available), while the 163hp, 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine is paired to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.

At this price point, the Compass Black Pack is about Rs 15,000 more than the standard Limited (O). The Black Pack has been introduced in order to capitalise on the upcoming festive season, which should help give a boost to the Compass’ sales against rivals such as the Hyundai Tucson, Honda CR-V and the Volkswagen Tiguan.

Meanwhile, more variants of the Compass are expected to be brought to the market in the near future. Bookings have opened for the new top-spec Limited Plus trim, while the more rugged Trailhawk trim is scheduled to arrive early next year.
