India-spec new Maruti Suzuki Ertiga details revealed

Maruti Suzuki is all set to announce pricing for the second-gen Ertiga on November 21, 2018. The new Ertiga will replace the first-gen model that is on sale in India since 2012. As reported by us long back, the new Maruti Ertiga for India will come with a 1.5-litre petrol engine that made its debut on the facelifted Ciaz, and the same 1.3-litre diesel as the outgoing model and not a new 1.5-litre diesel as speculated earlier. Bookings have officially begun for the new MPV with the booking amount set at Rs 11,000.

The new Maruti Ertiga petrol gets a 1,500cc engine good for 105hp at 6,000rpm and 138Nm of torque at 4,400rpm. The diesel engine, however, is the same 1,248cc unit good for 90hp at 4,400rpm and 200Nm of torque at 1,750rpm. As far as transmission options go, Maruti will equip the new Ertiga with a 4-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox for the petrol variants along with the 5-speed manual. The diesel variant is likely to come only with a 5-speed manual transmission.

The new Ertiga is 4,395mm long, 1,735mm wide and 1,690mm high, and comes with a 2,740mm wheelbase.  The India-spec new Maruti Ertiga has a turning radius of 5.2 meters and comes with a 45-litre fuel tank.  The model will come with 185/65-R15 tyres, at least on the top-spec trims.

The new Ertiga petrol, for the first time, will come with Maruti’s SHVS technology.  This means, it will get a dual-battery setup that was introduced on the Ciaz facelift. This gives it a conventional battery for powering the vehicle and the idle start-stop tech, and an additional lithium-ion battery for torque assist is expected to be located under the front passenger seat.  Expect the new Ertiga petrol to deliver at least 1.5-2kpl more than the earlier model.

The Ertiga diesel, however, will continue with a single-battery setup for its SHVS system, just like the outgoing car.

Maruti will sell the new Ertiga in India in five exterior paint shade options that include Auburn Red, Magma Grey, Oxford Blue, Arctic White and Silky Silver. Expect Maruti to announce official commencement of bookings for the new model soon.
