Audi has introduced the RS6 Avant Performance in India at Rs 1.65 crore (ex-showroom, India). The RS6 Avant is the German carmaker’s high-performance estate and doesn’t have any direct rivals in the country.

The standard RS6 Avant is powered by a 4.0-litre, twin-turbo V8 petrol engine that makes 560hp and 700Nm of peak torque. The addition of the 'Performance' suffix means that the motor has been tuned to produce 45hp more, and it also gets 50Nm more of torque with the overboost function. Like the standard RS6, power is channelled to all four wheels via Audi’s Quattro all-wheel-drive system, via an eight-speed automatic transmission. While the RS6 Avant has a claimed 0-100kph time of 3.9sec, the faster RS6 Avant Performance takes 0.2sec less to do the same sprint.

Compared to the standard RS6, the more performance-oriented version gets larger 21-inch alloy wheels, a sports exhaust, contrasting front splitter, door mirrors, rear diffuser and Quattro badging on the front grille. All the tech, safety kit and features are shared between the two.

Audi had brought the RS6 Avant to India back in 2015 and is priced at Rs 1.38 crore (ex-showroom, India). More recently, the brand launched Design Editions of the Q3 and Q7, introduced the second-gen Audi RS5 coupé and launched the all-new Q5 (first in the diesel guise, followed by the petrol).
