Bike, scooter sales on upward trajectory in April 2024

    Hero, Honda, Bajaj, TVS, Suzuki and Royal Enfield all reported MoM and YoY increases.

    Sales figures for the top six two-wheeler companies in India are out for the first month of FY25 and here’s how each OEM performed. 

    Hero MotoCorp: 5,13,296 units

    As has been the theme for this industry, Hero remains top dog in April 2024 with sales of more than 5 lakh units. Compared to its March 2024 figure of 4,59,257 units, it has reported an 11.77 percent increase. When compared to its sales figures in April of last year (3,86,184 units), it reported a substantial 33 percent increase.     Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI): 4,81,046 units 

    Honda reported a large 34.3 percent increase last month compared to its March 2024 sales numbers of 3,58,151 units. And when compared to its April 2023 tally of 3,38,289 units, it reported an even bigger 42.2 percent increase.     TVS Motor Company: 3,01,449 units

    TVS reported a 15.70 percent increase in April, compared to its March 2024 numbers which stood at 2,60,532 units. Even when compared to the same period last year where the Hosur-based company recorded sales of 2,32,956 units, it reported a substantial increase of 29.40 percent.     Bajaj Auto: 2,16,950 units

    Bajaj reported a 12.41 percent increase last month compared to its figures for March 2024 (1,93,004 units). In the same vein, it also reported a 19.31 percent increase when compared to its sales numbers for April 2023 (1,81,828 units).     Suzuki: 88,067 units

    Building on its strong performance in the recent past, Suzuki once again sold in excess of 80,000 units, for the fourth consecutive month in April 2024. In doing so, it reported an increase of 2.20 percent compared to its March 2024 numbers of 86,164 units. Compared to its April 2023 tally of 67,259 units, Suzuki reported a significant 31 percent increase.     Royal Enfield: 75,038 units

    Compared to the 66,604 units it sold in March, Royal Enfield reported a 12.70 percent increase last month. Even when compared to its March 2023 sales tally of 68,881 units, the company reported an 8.90 percent upward rise.
