UM Motorcycles India has announced a hike in prices for its two cruisers, the Renegade Commando and the Renegade Sport S. Previously priced at Rs 1.59 lakh ( Renegade Commando) and Rs 1.49 lakh (Sport S), the models see a hike of around Rs 5,000 and Rs 8,000 respectively. The bikes are now priced at Rs 1.64 lakh and Rs 1.57 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The revised prices came into effect on January 1, 2017.
In an official statement, Rajeev Mishra, director of UML said that the increase in prices was on account of rising costs of raw materials and other operating costs.
The Renegade Commando and Sport S are currently manufactured locally by UM Lohia joint venture at Lohia Auto’s facility in Kashipur, Uttrakhand. Both motorcycles share common underpinnings and are powered by the same 280cc single-cylinder engine capable of developing 25.3hp at 8,500rpm and 21.8Nm of torque at 7,000rpm. Both the bikes differ in styling with the Commando styled towards a standard cruiser while the Sport S takes design cues from power cruisers.
