Toyota has been looking to get the new Vios sedan to India for some time now. Manufactured principally for growing southeast Asian markets, the Toyota Vios sedan slots in below the Corolla and is positioned as a Honda CIty rival in most of these countries.

Considered a strategic car for emerging economies, the Toyota Vios could be manufactured here by 2017 and eventually replace the Etios sedan.

The Vios promises to be much more visually exciting than Toyota’s current compact sedan, the Etios. The third-generation Vios utilises Toyota’s new design language as seen on the Corolla and Camry, and gets an all-new nose and a much sharper and more aggressive profile. The grille has a lot of chrome and the bumper has a big air dam for a sporty look. The LED daytime-running lights sit just below the fog lights. The interiors come with chrome inserts, a touchscreen and sporty looking dials, coupled with a black and beige colour theme.

Mechanically, the Vios will come with a 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine that puts out 107bhp and is mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. The 1.4-litre diesel motor will also be made available in this car.
