Toyota to recall nearly 45,000 Innovas

Toyota has announced that it will be recalling almost 45,000 units of the Innova that were manufactured between February 2005 and December 2008. According to the company, these models could have a faulty spiral cable mounted on the steering wheel.

According to a company spokesman, the error would result in the airbag warning lamp on the instrument cluster to stay lit and it is also likely the airbag may be deactivated.
The carmaker is currently in the process of collecting the necessary replacement parts and once that is done, it will notify customers through authorised dealerships. The replacement will be carried out free of charge and is not expected to take more than an hour.

The recall is part of a larger global exercise whereby Toyota aims to fix steering and seat related problems on nearly 6.58 million vehicles worldwide.
