    Tempting discounts on Marutis

    With carmakers across the country hiking prices following the introduction of 'infrastructure cess' in Budget 2016, buying a new car could be daunting. However, if it is a Maruti that you are interested in, the carmaker has worked out discounts that can be cashed in on select models. The offer comprises gift cheque discounts and exchange bonuses.

    Maruti Alto

    All variants of the Alto 800 are available at total discounts of up to Rs 55,000, while its more powerful sibling, the Alto K10 is on offer at a maximum discount of Rs 35,000.

    Maruti WagonR and WagonR Stingray

    The tall-boy hatchback and its more stylish Stingray sibling can be bought at discounts ranging from Rs 40,000 to Rs 70,000. The AMT(AGS)-equipped variants are being offered at steeper discounts than manual-transmission models. The WagonR rivals the Hyundai i10, Nissan Micra Active.

    While all variants of the Celerio aren’t being offered at discounted rates, (no discounts on CNG variants, except for a Rs 15,000 exchange bonus), there are a few which will be lighter on the wallet.

    Maruti Swift Dzire
    All variants of the Swift Dzire (except for the Tour LDi) are offered with a Rs 15,000 gift cheque discount and an exchange bonus of Rs 20,000. The Tour LDi variant, based on the previous generation Dzire, is available with a gift cheque of Rs 10,000 and an exchange bonus of Rs 15,000. The Swift DZire competes with the Hyundai Xcent, Tata Zest and the Honda Amaze.

    Maruti Swift Dzire diesel AMT review

    Maruti Ciaz
    Petrol variants of the Ciaz offer a Rs 15,000 gift cheque, while both petrol and diesel versions get an exchange bonus of Rs 30,000. Rivals of the Ciaz include the Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Volkswagen Vento and the Skoda Rapid.

    Maruti Ciaz SHVS diesel hybrid review

    Maruti is not offering gift-cheques on all its models. However, all the cars in its line-up, save for the Eeco MPV and the recently launched Vitara Brezza, are available at an exchange bonus of at least Rs 10,000. The Omni get an exchange bonus of Rs 20,000, while diesel variants of the Ertiga MPV cost Rs 25,000 less in an exchange offer.
