The first-ever truck racing weekend in India saw Stuart Oliver take top honours at the Tata Motors T1 Prima Championship held at Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida.

The weekend comprised of two races with 12 race-prepped Prima trucks, piloted by experienced truck racing drivers from British and European Truck Racing circuits. The first race was a 5-lap qualifier, followed by the 15-lap main race. The final standings were calculated on basis of combined points scored by each driver in both races, while the Team Championship was awarded on the basis of the combined scores of the two drivers of the respective teams.

Driving for the Castrol Vecton team, Oliver made a clean-sweep of the weekend, winning both races and emerging on top of the standings, while Castrol Vecton also took the team title.

A total of six teams had participated, running two race-prepped Prima 4038.S model trucks, putting out 370 bhp on tap. A newly created 2.1-km short loop at Buddh Circuit was used for the races.

“I am thrilled to have won the first ever Truck racing championship in India, among the enthusiastic crowd who were cheering each time we drove past the grandstand. I see a lot of potential of this sport here and would love to come back and race again”, said Oliver – the T1 Prima champion.
