SsangYong plans electric SUV for 2019

SsangYong is reportedly planning to enter the electric vehicle market. Reports claim that the Korean carmaker is working on a new crossover model that is set to receive a full electric variant.

The new crossover, codenamed C300 is expected to launch in international markets sometime next year, with the full-electric variant slated for a 2019 global launch.

At this stage, it is not known if Mahindra & Mahindra will leverage either of its two acquired companies – Reva the electric car company or Italian design house and coachbuilder Pininfarina – in the project.

In terms of size, the C300 is expected to slot between the Tivoli and the longer Tivoli XLV.

SsangYong had showcased the standard Tivoli at the Auto Expo in Delhi earlier this year and is likely considering launching the SUV in India.
