Skoda has created a new concept version of its Yeti crossover. The Yeti Extreme, as it will be known, will feature at the Worthersee GTI fan meet in Austria on May 29.

Skoda has converted the standard Yeti crossover into a more sporty and dynamic rally-inspired car. The Yeti Xtreme concept will be powered by a 1.8-litre TSI engine capable of making 150bhp and 25kgm of torque. The engine is mated to a six-speed dual-clutch transmission. Skoda says the car can reach 97kph in 9.0sec, with a top speed of 192kph. Performance modifications include special brakes from the Octavia RS.

Finished in matte grey paint, the Yeti Xtreme sits on 17-inch alloy wheels with off-road tyres. Aesthetic changes include new tinted side windows, new wheel inserts and a more aggressive front bumper with a larger air intake and LED lights.

Skoda says the height of the chassis can also be adjusted. A revised bumper also features at the rear alongside new dual exhausts. Off-road equipment sits in the boot, and includes special traction mats and 'recovery tracks'.

Inside the cabin, the Yeti Xtreme comes with four Recaro sports seats with safety harnesses, a sportier steering wheel and paddle-shift transmission. New carbonfibre and Alcantara leather trim also features alongside aluminium inserts and special pedals and door sill plates. Rally-centric tools including a belt cutter and fire extinguisher sit on a revised centre console, while an iPad dock and first aid kit also feature.

Skoda has confirmed the model is purely a design study, and will be showcased alongside its new CitiJet concept car at the Worthersee event.
