Nissan is launching its facelifted Sunny sedan on July 3. The Sunny facelift was first showcased at the 2014 Delhi auto expo.

The upgrade is purely a cosmetic one. Externally, the sedan gets redesigned lamp assemblies, new grille, restyled rear, new alloys and lots of chrome garnishes. On the inside, the centre console gets piano black finish and the new steering wheel gets controls for audio and telephony.

Equipment additions on the top-end model include front fog lamps, electric ORVMs with turn indicators, display for the 2-DIN audio system, start/stop button, rear view camera and rear AC vent. Two optional accessory packs are also available for the top-end Sunny facelift. ‘Premium pack 1’ adds leather upholstery and leather to the steering and gear lever. ‘Premium pack 2’, on the other hand, adds side airbags.

Mechanically, the Sunny will still be powered by the same 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines, mated to the five-speed manual gearbox that runs the current car. The petrol, however, will also get a CVT option. The Sunny facelift will be available in three trim levels — XE, XL and XV. The XV will only get a diesel motor.

When launched, the facelifted Sunny will take on the likes of Volkswagen Vento, Renault Scala and Skoda Rapid.
