Infiniti’s recent badge-changing strategy means their mid-size sedan has become the Q70, rather than the M35. A year after the name change, a revised Q70 makes its debut at the 2014 New York motor show.

The new model sports an updated exterior design and a long-wheelbase version will be offered – a natural move for Infinti as lengthened versions of the Mercedes E-class and BMW 5-series are sold in markets like China. The long-wheelbase Q70 gains 150mm, resulting in a claimed best-in-class rear knee room as well as excellent ingress and egress.

In the US, the Q70 carries over its two petrol engines, as well the hybrid powertrain. All-wheel drive is offered on all models except the hybrid. The Q70 3.7 utilises a 330bhp V6. The Q70 5.6 gets a 420bhp V8. The hybrid is a combination of a 3.5-litre V6 and an electric motor. All engines feature a seven-speed automatic transmission.
