    Volkswagen has just launched the Polo facelift at a starting price of Rs 4.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Like the previous model, the updated car too is available in both petrol and diesel variants.

    The petrol Polo continues to offer buyers the option of a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder, in-line engine that is paired with a five-speed manual transmission. The Polo GT TSI gets a 1.2-litre TSI, four-cylinder engine which is mated to a seven-speed DSG automatic gearbox. The regular Polo petrol is available in three trims – Trendline, Comfortline and Highline. The Polo GT TSI is offered only in the Highline trim.

    The diesel Polo gets a new 1.5-litre engine which is available in two states of tune –89bhp and 104bhp. The 89bhp version powers the regular Polo 1.5 TDI which is available in the three trims. The Polo GT TDI gets the 104bhp and is available only in the Highline trim.

    The base Volkswagen Polo Trendline trim gets kit like air-con, electronic power steering, front power windows, body coloured door handles and wing mirrors. Additionally, it gets height adjustable driver’s seat and steering wheel adjustment for reach and rake. Volkswagen even offers dual front airbags as standard kit for all trims of the Polo facelift. There is no ABS on the base trim.

    The instrument panel gets a digital clock and fuel gauge, tachometer, speedometer, odometer and trip meter. There’s also a dead pedal, single-folding rear seat backrest and 14-inch steel rims which ride on 175/70 section tyres. Only the Polo TDI gets a gear shift indicator. Like the previous model, all Polo facelift trims get a galvanised body with a six-year anti-corrosion warranty.

    The Polo Comfortline trim additionally gets dual beam headlamps, ambient cabin lights and a rear parcel tray. It also gets some useful goodies like electrically adjustable wing mirrors, powered windows, rear defogger, rear windshield washer and wiper. There’s also central locking, remote opening and closing of windows, ABS and 185/60 section tyres wrapped around 15-inch steel wheels.

    The Comfortline trim also gets a four-speaker audio system with CD/MP3, USB, aux-in and SD card compatibility. The multi-function display also shows travelling time, distance travelled, average speed and fuel efficiency.

    Only the top Polo Highline trim gets climate control, Bluetooth compatible audio system,  steering wheel-mounted controls for audio and telephony, speed sensing automatic door locks, rear parking sensors and 15-inch alloys.
