It has been just a little over two months since bookings opened for the all-new Toyota Fortuner, and the total tally of bookings has already crossed 10,000 units, claims the manufacturer. The Fortuner already boasts a waiting period of two to three months in several cities.
The large number of bookings despite the Fortuner’s premium pricing – starting at Rs. 27.52 lakh, which higher than that of the previous-gen car as well as competitors such as the Ford Endeavour (Rs 23.78 lakh) and Mitsubishi Pajero Sport (Rs 27.12 lakh) – indicate the SUV’s popularity among buyers.
Toyota claims that the automatic transmission variants are doing particularly well, indicating a market move towards more premium, higher-spec cars. Almost 60 percent of the orders are for the ‘Super White’ colour.
The Fortuner comes with a 2.8-litre diesel engine with optional 4WD, and, for the first time, a 2.7-litre petrol with only 2WD, with both engines available in manual as well as automatic gearboxes.
Toyota claims that they are continuing to try their best to deliver vehicles on time as well as minimise the waiting period.
