New Skoda seven-seat SUV to be called Kodiak

Skoda’s new seven-seat SUV has been in the making for some time now with the manufacturer confirming that it will showcase the new SUV at the Paris motor show to be held in October 2016.

Now as per reports from automotive publication, Auto Bild, the new SUV from Skoda is expected to be badged Kodiak. Reported to be based on the second-generation MQB platform, the Kodiak will be offered in both seven and five-seat layouts and have front-wheel drive as standard. The all-wheel-drive configuration will be available as an option.

In terms of engines, the Kodiak will share the petrol and diesel engine range with the Octavia and Superb, mated to either six-speed manual or seven-speed DSG gearboxes.

The SUV body is expected to be longer in comparison to the Yeti, and details about its exteriors remain sketchy since the test mules spotted so far have used stretched body panels of its smaller sibling. To be manufactured at the company’s factory in Kvasiny, Czech Republic, the Skoda Kodiak will go on sale internationally by end 2016.
