New Pagani Huayra Roadster teased

The drop-top is likely to be powered by the same 740hp 6.0-litre twin-turbo V12 as the hardtop Huayra; limited production expected.

Pagani has released some preview images of its upcoming Huayra Roadster, ahead of the car’s debut at the Geneva motor show in March.

One of the new images is that of the right rear tail-light and shows the back section of the drop-top's redesigned engine cover. Two previous images showed small details, including the centre section of the car's nose.

The text accompanying another preview image quotes the company’s founder, Horacio Pagani, saying, “We decided to give her a more aggressive shape.” This gives a clue to the design of the roadster, which promises to be even more extreme than the Zonda Roadster.

The hardtop Huayra is powered by Pagani’s bespoke 6.0-litre twin-turbo V12, producing 740hp and 1,001Nm. It’s very likely that the Huayra Roadster will share this engine in unaltered form.
Pagani’s previous roadster, the Zonda Roadster, weighed five kilos more than its hardtop counterpart. The Huayra Roadster is also expected to closely match the weight of the coupé, which weighs in at 1,350kg.

The similar power and weight figures to the standard car means its 3.2sec 0-100kph sprint and 370kph top speed will also be closely matched.

Horacio Pagani said of the Huayra Roadster, “This is the most complicated project we have ever undertaken”, suggesting the structure has been significantly modified to ensure rigidity.

Pagani released no details with the images, but with production of the Huayra being limited to just 40 units a year, it’s expected that the Huayra Roadster will be built in even smaller numbers.
