Mercedes-Benz is planning to extend its new C-class line-up with a performance-orientated C450 AMG Sport.
Planned for introduction in 2015, the new model has been conceived to bridge the gap between the C400 and upcoming C63 AMG. Power hails from a tuned version of Mercedes' M276 petrol engine.
The twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 unit has been revised with added boost pressure and other detail changes, taking its output from a standard 333bhp to 367bhp, according to Mercedes-Benz sources.
Although not an official AMG model, the C450 AMG Sport has been developed with input from Mercedes-Benz’s performance car division and, unlike the rear-wheel-drive C63 AMG, is set to be offered in both rear-wheel-drive and optional 4Matic four-wheel-drive guises.
