The next-gen Hyundai i20 will be called the Hyundai Elite i20 and will be launched India on August 11, 2014.  This will be a global launch for the new Elite i20. Highlight of the new Hyundai i20 will be the restyled exterior, as seen in our computer-generated illustration.

The new Elite i20’s styling is based on Hyundai’s Fluidic Sculpture 2 theme.  It gets a longer wheelbase than the current car which translates to more interior space. The interiors get a refresh and there is also a raft of new technology.

Mechanically, the new Hyundai Elite i20 will be the same as the current car. This means, the smooth-running 1.4-litre 89 bhp diesel and the 1.2-litre Kappa2 petrol motors will continue to power in the new i20. Also on offer will be the 1.4-litre 99bhp Gamma petrol engine that will come with an automatic gearbox.

Upon launch, the Hyundai Elite i20 will face competition in the form of the recently launched new Volkswagen Polo and the soon-to-be-launched Fiat Punto Evo. Loaded with plenty of kit on the inside, if Hyundai prices the i20 competitively, it has the potential to disrupt the status quo in its segment.
