Hyundai has launched its all-new Elantra saloon with four diesel and three petrol variants. Prices for the diesel variants start at Rs 12.91 lakh and go up to Rs 15.85 lakh, whereas the petrol variants start at Rs 12.51 lakh and go up to Rs 14.85 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The fifth-generation Elantra incorporates Hyundai’s already successful fluidic design language and comes packed to the gills with an exhaustive feature-list, including ventilated seats, audio controls for the rear passengers, hill-start assist, dual-zone air-conditioning, steering-mounted audio and cruise controls, rear parking sensors, and even heated mirrors. On the safety front, the Elantra is equipped with six airbags, ABS, vehicle stability management (VSM) and electronic stability control (ESC). Even the base variant gets dual front airbags.
Powering the car is a pair of petrol and diesel engines, both of which come with a choice of manual and automatic transmissions. The four-cylinder petrol engine churns out 146bhp, while the diesel unit, similar to the one found on the new Verna, puts out 126bhp.
The 1.6-litre diesel Elantra returns an ARAI-rated, class-best, 22.7kpl, while the 1.8-litre petrol returns 16.3kpl.
