The next-gen Audi Q7 is almost production ready. The latest prototype has been spotted testing in Germany, and the production model is likely to debut at the Detroit motor show in January 2015.
The prototype is seen with a new larger front grille, the new Matrix LED headlights that debuted on the facelifted A8 and new wing mirrors. Other likely cosmetic changes include redesigned bumpers, larger taillights new exhausts.
The important change in the new Q7 comes in the form of the underpinning, with reports suggesting that the car is based on a modified version of the Volkswagen’s MLB platform. This will allow the SUV to shed some weight, around 350kg.
Mechanically, Audi plans to offer a hybrid version of the new Q7 in international markets. The 3.0- and 4.2-litre units are likely to be retained from the current car.
