While buyers flocked to the showrooms right as 2014 ended, owing to the government's non-extension of the excise duty sops, dealers are still not rid of last year's stocks and have some of these models on offer with handsome discounts and benefits. But bear in mind that these discounts are not on offer from the manufacturers; only a few dealers have stocks and not all of them are offering benefits. Also, since the number of units are limited, you may be hard-pressed to find the variant or paint shade of your choice.

Therefore, a lot depends on whether you are able to find such a dealer, and if you negotiate well enough. Some of the cars on this list are also being offered with free insurance, but that amount is obviously variable from car to car, and variant to variant.

    Skoda

A couple of dealers have stocks of the Rapid sedan from last year and are offering discounts of up to Rs 70,000. But only the diesel Ambition variant in either white or silver paint shade is in stock.

    Ford

Dealers are offering discounts on the Figo, Classic and the petrol Fiesta. While the Figo is available with discounts of up to Rs 35,000, the Classic and the petrol Fiesta are on offer with discounts ranging from Rs 25,000 to Rs 60,000.

    Fiat

We came across dealers who are offering benefits of up to Rs 50,000 on the Linea Classic, and up to Rs 40,000 on the Linea T-Jet. That’s not all; some dealers are even offering discounts of up to Rs 1 lakh on the Punto, while the Punto Evo is available with a discount of Rs 25,000.

    Mahindra

Mahindra dealers who have leftover stock from 2014, are offering benefits ranging from Rs 20,000 to Rs 40,000 on both the Scorpio and the Quanto. The Xylo is also being offered with discounts of up to Rs 45,000, while the Verito and Verito Vibe are both being sold with benefits of up to Rs 30,000.

    Hyundai

Some Hyundai dealers are offering discounts ranging from Rs 15,000 to Rs 35,000 on the Eon, but the colour options are pretty limited. Benefits of up to Rs 40,000 are also being offered on the i10 and the Verna.

    Volkswagen

The diesel Cross Polo is being offered by VW dealers with benefits of up to Rs 35,000, while some variants of the Polo and the Vento are also on offer with benefits of up to Rs 25,000.

    Maruti

Other than the Ciaz, almost every other model is being offered with some benefits by a number of dealers. Although not too much, discounts are ranging from Rs 10,000 to Rs 50,000. The Ritz is the one which is being offered with most benefits from most dealers.

    Nissan

You can avail discounts ranging from Rs 20,000 to Rs 40,000 on both the Sunny and Micra. Some of you might even be able to get benefits up to Rs 35,000 on the Terrano. Budget brand Datsun's Go hatchback is also on offer with discounts of up to Rs 25,000.

    Renault

Apart from the Duster, most of the Renault models are being offered with discounts in the range of Rs 15,000 to Rs 45,000. Some dealers are also offering a hefty discount on the Pulse.

    Chevrolet

Some dealers are offering handsome discounts on Chevy models. Be it the Spark, Beat, Sail or the Cruze, discounts range from Rs 25,000 to Rs 60,000.

Remember, these discounts are purely based on whether previous year's stocks are available with your dealer or not. They are also likely to be area specific, and not every model or variant will be offered with benefits.
