Mitsubishi has announced that it is currently developing a MPV rival for the Maruti Ertiga and Honda Mobilio. It is expected to launch in Indonesia first in 2017.

Mitsubishi, along with the announcement, also released a silhouette of the MPV under development. However, it only shows the side body of the MPV along with the window line. The MPV is expected to be based on the Mitsubishi Concept AR that was showcased at the Geneva Motor Show last year.

Osamu Masuko, CEO of Mitsubishi Motor Corporation has told our sister publication Autocar Indonesia that the MPV is currently under development but the goal is to launch it by August 2017. Osamu has also said that the MPV will likely be powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine.  The company has said that the MPV will get a sporty and tough appearance along with upmarket interiors and comfortable seating for seven people.  There is no news of the new Mitsubishi MPV headed to India.
