Mercedes to lead development of Infiniti cars

The new Infiniti hatchback will be based on the Mercedes MFA platform which also underpins the A-Class and many other models.

Daimler boss Dieter Zetsche has said that Mercedes-Benz will take the lead in developing any new cars shared with Infiniti that are based on Merc’s new MFA platform.

Infiniti – Nissan’s luxury cars arm – will develop its new crossover, based on the Q30 concept shown at the Frankfurt motor show last year, on the MFA architecture which also underpins the new A-class, B-class and CLA.  “We would take the lead on developing any compact car. It is our platform”, said Zetsche.
