We broke the news way back in February this year that a major update to the popular Mahindra Thar is in the pipeline.  Our source close to the company has revealed that the updated Thar is likely to be launched very soon.

Exterior tweaks on the updated Thar include an all-new plastic-metal front bumper, bigger foot-rests and fender extensions as standard on the top trim. The biggest differentiator on the updated Thar, when viewed from the sides, is that the canopy is now tilted from the back.

The dash is all-new and is now dual tone. The AC vents are now round with prominent silver finish. The instrument cluster is also all-new, with three separate chrome-ringed units. The steering wheel, HVAC controls and the handbrake lever are all from the Bolero. The seats are also new, and look wider than before. The Thar also gets a beige centre console housing that covers the hand brake, gear lever and the transfer case. There are two cup holders too.

Mechanically, there are no updates expected on the Thar. This means, the CRDe and the Di engines are expected to continue unchanged. Stay tuned to our website for a detailed first-drive review of the updated Thar by the end of this month.
