Ford has announced that within two years of its introduction, the made-in-India EcoSport has achieved the 2,00,000 units sales milestone globally. Of these, Ford’s current best-seller boasts a domestic sales figure of 1,12,000 units. The company claims that the EcoSport received 60,000 bookings within 30 days of its launch here in June 2013.
Back in February this year, Ford equipped the EcoSport with the updated SYNC system. It comes with AppLink, which enables users to control some of their smartphone applications through simple voice-commands.
The EcoSport, manufactured at Ford’s Chennai plant, is exported to countries like South Africa, Taiwan and Australia.
Although an updated EcoSport (minus the tailgate-mounted spare wheel) has been spotted testing in India, it is uncertain whether it will be launched here. The next Ford to arrive in our showrooms will be the Figo Aspire compact sedan, on August 12.
