Audi has unveiled the 'R8 competition', a limited-edition, high-performance version of the R8, which will make its public debut at the Los Angeles motor show. Only 60 units of the 'R8 competition' will be manufactured specifically for the US markets.

The 'R8 competition' is powered by the same 5.2-litre V10 petrol that sits in the standard R8, which is tuned to make 570bhp instead of the 550bhp in the R8 V10 Plus. The engine is mated to a seven-speed S tronic gearbox. There’s also the sport exhaust system with black high-gloss tailpipes. The R8 competition achieves a 0-100 sprint in 3.2 seconds, while reaching a top speed of 320kph; the fastest R8 ever offered.

Cosmetic differentiations include matte carbon finish for the fixed rear spoiler, engine bay, mirror housings, front spoiler and rear diffusor. There are also glossy-black alloys and ceramic brakes with red brake calipers. On the inside, the center console is finished in matte black and illuminated “R8 competition” inlays on the door sills.
