Lamborghini Aventador LP 750-4 SV unveiled

    Lamborghini debuts the Super Veloce version of the Aventador at the Geneva motor show 2015.

    Lamborghini has described the Aventador SV as its “most pure incarnation”, featuring more extreme looks, an overhauled chassis, a high-revving naturally aspirated V12 engine and weighing 50kg less than the standard coupe, thanks to carbonfibre parts.

    In the Aventador SV, Lamborghini has re-tuned the 6.5-litre V12 engine to now develop 740bhp at 8400rpm, compared to the standard’s 691bhp. The engine now sports optimised valve timing and variable intake systems. The torque, however, remains the same as the standard, 70.1kgm at 5500rpm.

    With the reduction in weight and increase in power, the SV achieves a power-to-weight ratio of 485bhp per tonne and a claimed 0-100kph time of 2.8 seconds – that’s 0.1 second faster than the standard. The top speed is now claimed to be over 350kph.

    Lamborghini has varied over the seven-speed automated manual gearbox from the standard Aventador, along with the Haldex four-wheel-drive system with self-locking differential on the rear axle and an electronic differential lock on the front axle that is linked to the ESP. The car also offers Lamborghini’s standard three-mode drive select.

    The SV features multiple carbonfibre components, which includes the engine bay cover, rear wing, wing panels, interior panels, bucket sports seats and air intakes. Carpets and noise insulation in certain parts have also been removed in an effort to save weight, along with the multimedia system, which is a no-cost option.

    The car now sports a new pushrod suspension system with magnetic fluid-filled adaptive dampers to reduce pitch and body roll. The car also receives a new variable electromechanical steering system called Lamborghini Dynamic Steering.

    The rear wing on the Aventador SV is manually adjustable to three different positions and has been designed to increase downforce without increasing the drag at high speeds. The rear also features a mesh to help increase engine cooling, while the front houses larger air intakes and two front wings to increase downforce.

    On the inside, Lamborghini has upholstered the car with an in-house developed material called Carbon Skin, a woven carbonfibre material trim, which the company claims to be the lightest fabric available along with alcantara and leather. The instrument cluster now sports a new TFT display that adopts gear shift and g-force indicators.

    The Aventador SV will go on sale internationally later this year.
