    Jaguar XE diesel launch soon

    Jaguar XE.

The Jaguar XE, which was launched at Auto Expo 2016, is the only model in the carmaker's India line-up that doesn't offer the option of a diesel engine. But, as reported by us earlier, the carmaker is set to introduce a diesel variant and, for an amount of Rs 2 lakh, is currently accepting bookings at select dealerships.

Powering the XE will be JLR's 2.0-litre Ingenium diesel making 180hp, just as on the XF sedan and the F-Pace SUV. Compared to its German competition, the Jaguar XE develops 10hp more than the entry-level Mercedes C-class C 220d, and 10hp lesser than both the BMW 3-series 320d and the Audi A4 35 TDI. As with its petrol sibling, the diesel engine will be paired to an eight-speed automatic gearbox.

As with the petrol, the diesel XE too will be available in all three trim levels – Pure, Prestige and the range-topping Portfolio. As per the brochure there will be no differences in the equipment list between the petrol and diesel models.

As per dealers, the XE diesel is expected to be launched in the coming days with deliveries for the car only likely to start towards the end of the month.
