    Honda introduces new turbo engines

2016 Honda Civic sedan. (For representation purpose only).

Honda has announced its new 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre VTEC turbo engines. The engines will feature in the Europe-spec 10th generation Civic, and will join the 310bhp, 2.0-litre VTEC turbocharged engine, that's part of Honda’s Earth Dreams Technology range. The 2.0-litre engine does duty in the current Civic Type R, capable of achieving a 0-100kph time of 5.7 seconds.

The new engines utilise direct-injection technology and a turbocharger with a low moment of inertia, that allows for higher power and torque outputs over naturally aspirated engines. Honda’s 1.5-litre VTEC turbo unit is already available in Japan, on its StepWGN MPVs. The above mentioned engine delivers 148bhp and 20.7kgm of torque,

The all-new Civic is scheduled to arrive in Europe by early 2017. Five-door variants of the Civic will be exclusively produced at Honda’s manufacturing plant in Swindon, UK.
