Hero MotoCorp unveiled the new Glamour in Buenos Aires today. This is the company’s first global launch of a new product outside of India and also marks its entry into its 35th international market, Argentina. The new motorcycle will be sold under the name ‘Ignitor’ in the Central and South American markets.

The launch also coincides with the debut of Hero's MotoSports Team Rally, comprising of riders C.S. Santosh and Joaquim Rodrigues, at the Dakar Rally 2017.

Pawan Munjal, chairman, managing director and CEO of Hero MotoCorp said, “The past five years have seen brand Hero evolve into a major global player, where mobility solutions are developed at our state-of-the-art facility in India and distributed globally. And the extent of this growth is today showcased in India and Argentina, with the first-ever global launch of our new bike, while our team races along in the Dakar Rally for the first time.”

Hero MotoCorp has appointed Marwan SA as its distributor in Argentina where the company has a manufacturing plant to assemble 5,000 units of the bike per year, which may be ramped up in the future. The motorcycle market in Argentina is between 50,000 to 70,000 units per annum and Hero is aiming to be a key player in this market.

The new Glamour is a powered by a new vertical single-cylinder 125cc, 11.6hp engine that is BS-IV compliant. Interestingly, there are no emission norms in Argentina. The new Glamour will be available with a choice of a CV carb or fuel-injection, as well as a choice between disk and drum brakes. The styling too is all new and the motorcycle is equipped with features like an analogue digital speedometer, digital fuel gauge, trip and mileage meters, tubeless tyres and Automatic Headlamp On.

Apart from this new motorcycle, Hero MotoCorp will also sell the Hunk, Hunk Sports and the Dash scooter through 40 dealers across Argentina.

In India, you can expect the new Glamour to be available in the showrooms within a month. Does this new motorcycle from Hero have what it takes to rule this very profitable segment? You’ll have to wait for our road test for the verdict.
