As the dates for the Auto Expo are fast approaching, automotive manufacturers from across the country are in the final stages of prepping their products for Auto Expo 2016. Mahindra Two Wheelers is also gearing up to wow show goers. Two of the products, among the few lined up, that we do know about are the GenZe 2.0, and the 2016 version of its Moto3 motorcycle.

The Mahindra GenZe is an all-electric scooter, which offers a solid mix of form and functionality. The scooter is designed to be a personal runabout with a futuristic appeal. Key to the design is the aluminium chassis that sits exposed along the edge of the scooter. That aside, there's  an LED headlamp, which sports a somewhat large windshield above it. The handlebar is a single-piece unit with well-finished switchgear at either end. It also has a 7.0-inch touchscreen display, which shows all relevant information about the scooter, such as battery levels, speed, range and energy consumption. It can also be used to adjust the energy consumption.

The scooter is a single seater, and behind the rider is a spacious carrying bin that can be outfitted with accessories to suit different needs. The electric engine makes 13.25kgm of torque, and Mahindra says that it is capable of pushing the scooter from standstill to its top speed of 48kph in less than 8 seconds. Battery provided is a 1.6kWh Li-ion removable pack, which can be charged to its maximum capacity in about four hours. This battery holds enough charge to last up to a little less than 50km. However, what makes it very user-friendly is that the battery can be removed from under the seat very easily. This means it can be charged anywhere, much like a laptop.

Some of the other interesting features on the scooter are 12v charging sockets on the front and the rear of the Mahindra GenZe, the ability to monitor it through a mobile phone, a pin code security lock, disc brakes at the front and the rear, and four different riding modes. At Rs 2 lakh (without duties), it is no surprise that the GenZe 2.0 isn’t destined for India just yet.

Mahindra also plans to hold the global unveil of the successor to its 2015 Moto3 racer, the MGP30. Crucially, this bike has been developed by Mahindra Racing at their new European technical base at Besozzo, near Varese in Northern Italy and is said to be 90 percent different from the previous bike. In 2015, as a Moto3 constructor, Mahindra supplied bikes to nine riders and four teams. In 2016, Peugeot Motorcycles will also enter Moto3 as a constructor using the Mahindra Racing motorcycles to power the Saxoprint Racing Team Germany. This is sure to further strengthen Mahindra Racing’s technical abilities. Meanwhile, you could also expect the Peugeot two-wheeler line up to be teased at the expo. Anchor
