Genesis sedan concept to debut at New York auto show 2016

Hyundai’s luxury brand Genesis has released a teaser image of its brand new concept, ahead of an official reveal at next week’s New York auto show.

Simply named the ‘New York concept’, little more detail than the fact the model is a four-door saloon has been revealed. However, sources tell us that the model is likely to be a concept version of the eagerly awaited Genesis G70.

Targeting the likes of the BMW 3 Series, Audi A4 and Lexus IS, the model will express the design direction that will be seen across forthcoming Genesis products.

Despite the teaser image leaving almost everything to the imagination, we can see that the concept features a sleek design with sporty cues such as honeycomb vents, horizontal lights, a large grille to the front end and an oval-shaped steering wheel inside.

Specification and engine options will be announced after the car’s official reveal.

Ex Lamborghini boss Manfred Fitzgerald was appointed head of brand at Genesis in December 2015. He said: “The New York Concept is a progressive concept car that showcases the design quality of the brand. With its expressive volumes and refined design, the model truly embodies the athletic elegance, which characterises Genesis products.”
