Ford Aspire, Figo prices slashed

    Going against the tide of raising prices, Ford India cuts prices on the Figo and Asipre by as much as Rs 91,000.

    Both, Hyundai and Maruti have recently raised prices across their range backed by strong sales figures. Ford India on the other hand, have slashed the prices of two slow-selling cars, the Figo and its compact sedan variant, the Asipre. The Figo gets a price cut in the range of Rs 21,000 to Rs 50,000, while the Aspire sees a price cut from Rs 25,000 to Rs 91,000.

    Despite both cars being very competent, Ford India has struggled to gain volumes. Ford has in the recent past expressed concern over the lack of sales of the new Figo, which has not climbed to numbers that the old generation used to clock. Since its launch in September 2015, the Figo has clocked about 1,600 sales per month, in contrast, Maruti’s Swift regularly exceeds 15,000 units per month. The Aspire which launched in August 2015 manages around 2,000 units per month with the Dzire doing about 11,000 per month.

    This is the second major price cut by Ford in India, who had in March this year, announced majorly reduced prices, on the back of the Brezza launch.

    The Figo and Aspire have a lot going for them by way of features and drive experience, and with this very substantial price cut and the newly announced service initiatives, Ford will be banking on their sales numbers improving.
