Fiat Urban Cross: 5 things to know

After the Avventura, Fiat’s Punto Evo based crossover just got another variant in the Urban Cross. The model was unveiled at the 2016 Auto Expo in its near-production avatar, and has just been launched. But what’s new about it?

    1. There’s something missing behind

The rear mounted spare wheel on the Avventura adds to its butch stance and cross-over appeal. But with the Urban Cross, Fiat aims to target the city car buyers, and hence, has given the spare wheel a miss. Opening the boot and parking in tight spaces will be easier now.

    2. There’s no F.I.R.E in the Urban Cross

Like the regular Avventura, the Urban Cross gets the 1.3 Multijet diesel, which makes 93hp. However, it has skipped the 1.4-litre F.I.R.E (Fully Integrated Robotised Engine) petrol that’s offered on the regular model. Instead, the only petrol engine it comes with is the 142hp, 1.4 T-jet from the Avventura Powered by Abarth.

    3. There are three variants on offer

The Urban Cross is available in three variants – Active, Dynamic and Emotion. Of these, the Active and Dynamic variants will be offered only with the diesel engine. The fully loaded Emotion will come with the powerful petrol and also the 16-inch Scorpion alloy wheels.

    4. It has the newly launched Fiat touchscreen

Fiat recently introduced a five-inch touchscreen infotainment system on its Punto Evo and Linea models. This same unit has also made its way into the Avventura Urban Cross as a standard feature. It comes with USB, aux-in and Bluetooth connectivity.

    5. Prices start at Rs 6.85 lakh
Fiat has launched the base 'Active' variant of the Avventura Urban Cross at Rs 6.85 lakh, while the mid-spec 'Dynamic' variant is priced at Rs 7.45 lakh. The range-topping 142hp, 1.4-litre T-jet petrol powered Emotion just ducks under the Rs 10 lakh mark at Rs 9.85 lakh. (All prices ex-showroom, Delhi)
