Datsun to go sporty with Redigo Sport

Datsun has teased a sportier iteration of its entry-level hatchback, the Redigo. The Redigo Sport, as per the teaser image, is set to receive a number of cosmetic tweaks to the exterior, though there are no details about the extent of changes to the cabin.

Cosmetic changes are down to black racing stripes over the top and along the sides, black-finished wheel covers with red inserts, darkened finish to the lower bumpers, darkened finish to the grille bezel and a red contrast insert on the grille. The LED DRLs could hint at the model being based on the top S trim level. While details of the interiors are still under wraps, the cabin could feature tweaks in line with the updates to the exterior. The car could also get some exclusive equipment.

Mechanically, the 53hp, 799cc, three-cylinder engine is expected to remain unchanged and will continue to be offered with a five-speed manual gearbox. Datsun will reveal the new Redigo Sport on September 29.
