BMW Motorrad sells 9,195 motorcycles in February

BMW Motorrad, the two-wheeler arm of BMW sold 9.195 motorcycles and maxi scooters in the month of February, a 13.5 percent growth in the company's global sales figure compared to the same month last year. In February 2014, BMW Motorrad sold 8,098 units. This is the fifth consecutive year in which BMW Motorrad's global sales have gone up in February.

In the first two months of the year, sales went up by 14.2 percent to 15,458 vehicles compared to the 13,536 units that were sold in January-February 2014.

Commenting on the sales figures, Heiner Faust, head of sales and marketing, BMW Motorrad, said: "With 15,458 vehicles sold, we have achieved a new record after the first two months of the year. This is a considerable increase in sales of 14.2 percent as compared to the equivalent period last year. What is more, last month showed the best February sales for the fifth time in succession in the company's history, with 9,195 vehicles sold and an increase of 13.5 percent".

Faust attributed the growth in sales numbers to the continuing high demand for the models launched in 2014, and the new models of the current season. He also went on to say that BMW Motorrad will add five new motorcycles this year.

The new BMW S 1000 RR has been considerably revised for the 2015 model year. Its main features include more output, even greater usability, and 4kg less weight. The bike maker also has two new boxer models lined up for the next season start: the new BMW R 1200 R and the R 1200 RS.

The company is also introducing a high-performance, sports-oriented four-cylinder motorcycle with the new S 1000 XR. It combines the qualities of the BMW Motorrad GS, Touring and Sports models to provide a completely new ride experience under the name ‘Adventure Sport’. The second generation of the F 800 R, according to BMW Motorrad, aims to continue the success of the BMW Motorrad parallel twins. The model makes a clear statement in the middle-weight segment.
