After recently reintroducing petrol cars into its line-up with the 320i, BMW has launched a petrol-powered 5-series, the 520i, at Rs 54 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The car has been introduced in India as a Completely Built Unit (CBU).
The 520i uses the same TwinPower turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol engine as the 320i which produces 184hp and 270Nm. The motor is paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission and BMW claims that the car can accelerate from 0-100kph in 7.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 233kph.
Available only in the ‘Luxury Line’ trim, the BMW 520i is equipped with fuel-saving tech like engine start-stop function, brake-energy regeneration and an Eco Pro driving mode. Other driving modes include Comfort and Sport.
The car comes with adaptive LED headlamps and 18-inch alloy wheels wrapped in run-flat tyres. Highlights of the interior include a 10.2-inch colour display for the iDrive infotainment system and navigation, a 600W, 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio system and paddleshifters for the automatic gearbox to name a few.
The BMW 520i rivals the Audi A6 35TFSI and Mercedes E200.
