Mahindra REVA the electric mobility division of Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) will unveil the Mahindra Halo, a two-door, two-seater electric sports car concept. News of M&M’s full electric sports car was first revealed in the February 2014 issue of Autocar India and now we bring you the first images of the Halo ahead of its global reveal at the Auto Expo 2014 in Greater Noida.

The Mahindra Halo looks terrific and the styling is well proportioned. However, the design isn’t as radical or edgy like most sports car concepts. Mahindra REVA designers have deliberately opted for a more rounded and conventional shape to establish an image of practicality. “We want to convey that the Halo is not just a sports car but an everyday car that’s easy to own and drive” said a source in Mahindra REVA. The Mahindra Halo has been designed by Mahindra REVA’s in-house team, which consists of designers from Pininfarina and Bertone.

Powering the Mahindra Halo will be an electric motor developing approximately 105kw or around 140bhp.  According to company sources the production version of the Halo will get a high-capacity battery “similar to the one in the Tesla” and company has a set a sub-seven second 0-100kph time and a top speed of over 200kph.

Mahindra-Reva plans to launch the Halo in both the Indian and international markets and the company will be conducting several market research studies in India and in Europe to gauge customer reaction for an all-electric sports car.

The Mahindra Halo won’t be cheap and the production version is likely to cost Rs. 30-35 lakh when it goes on sale sometime in 2015-16.
